Homer seems to be this really old dude who told really old stories about wars, struggles, and Greek Gods. In this WebQuest you will use resources to find more information about Homer and his stories which will help you and the rest of the class understand what the Odyssey was based on and the characters that are involved.
Task
With the completion of this WebQuest and project you will be able to read The Odyssey by Homer with better understanding of the time period, the rules of hospitality, the voyage of Odysseus, and the role the Greek gods played in the lives of people at the time that this story was originally told.
You will complete a 5-7 slide PowerPoint with all of the steps in the process below.
2. Find the list of characters from the Odyssey within your textbook as this is the version we will use. Create a table that will help you connect the character as human, demigod, monster, or god. I suggest you use the brief character descriptions supplied by the book as well as using the internet. Set up a table with rows and columns. Label the columns for Characters, Descriptions, Gods, Humans, Demigods, Monsters.
3. Define the following terms. Make sure to cite your original source.

4. Find information on Hospitality in Ancient Greece. Write a paragraph of at least seven sentences that explains Ancient Greek hospitality. After finding the information, explain why you think this may be important for the story. Explain how this/these tradition are similar/different from today. Cite the source you used.
5. Find a map of where Odysseus would have traveled between home (Ithaca) and Troy.
